Puttin’ on the Glitz

According to Decades Boutique owner, Cameron Silvera conversation piece is essential to any ensemble. Now, the question is: What kind of conversation do you want this piece to evoke?

If clothes could talk, what would yours say?

The concept of TMI cannot only refer to what you say, but also what you wear. This idea is known as Too Many Items.  While it can be great to make a lasting impression with your wealth of wonderful, one-of-a-kind pieces, too many flashy frills in a single outfit can be overwhelming. If all of your items are gabbing at the same time, it can sometimes be difficult to hear any of them with clarity.

In order to establish a clear point of view, concision is key. As the old saying goes, “Less is more.” However, it doesn’t mean that you have to do away with your fabulous sense of fun and flair! Instead, it is about knowing when to let one (or two) of your items do all the talking.

MODEL BEHAVIOR:

  • Loft Design by Sabine White T-Shirt: Due to its versatility, the plain white tee is an essential in any closet. Whether you decide to dress it up or down, this basic piece is super handy.
  • J. Crew Melanie Paillette-Embellished Merino Wool Skirt ($350): Does this skirt scream, “Va-va-va-voom!” or what?! Despite its use of sequins and rich textures, this piece can paired with a vivid splash of color without overwhelming the outfit due to its neutral color scheme.
  • Belle Sigerson Morrison Apache Ballet Flats For Women ($200): This precious pair offers the comfort of a flat with the sass of a high heel. Along with their hot pink hue, these shoes feature a bare sole and a superbly sharp toe.

Regardless of the way you choose to rock your pieces, you are sure to be the talk of the town!

Sound & Fury

Were you sadly unable to attend Foreign Breakfast‘s show on Friday night? Have no fear! Their brand new website is here!

In addition to taking a glimpse at their stunning band photos, you can also download their incredible CD, “On My Own,” which includes the following tracks:

No. 1 “Back to Life” Brimming with an irrepressible vehemence, Foreign Breakfast’s opening song, “Back to Life” gently lulls listeners to sleep with its a cappella chant reminiscent of a folk hymn.

No. 2 “Henri” – A prim and polished rendition of “Hold Me Tight” among additional instruments and lyrics, “Henri” unquestionably holds its own. This song cannot help but make listeners sing along and dance to the beguiling, brisk beat. The French libretto (Henri je crois que tu es mon seul ami. Mais j’espère qu’il y a plus que toi.) adds to its charm, making this already alluring melody even more so.

No. 3 “On My Own” Pacified by acoustic instruments and sweet, angelic voices, “On My Own” is nothing short of beautiful.

No. 4 “In Your Eyes” With its composed, melodic sounds and voices so familiar and remarkable, “In Your Eyes” seems like an instant classic that will be listened to time and time again.

No. 5 “Peace” Captivating vocalists, Nathan and Elizabeth Reed are in perfect harmony in the final chant, “Peace” with the ideal amount of warmth and intensity.

I didn’t think it was possible, but the already amazing band that is Foreign Breakfast just got a whole lot better.
